GROOM is one of a very select group of companies whose brand name has become a generic term. In everyday language, a “GROOM” refers to a door closer! This image among the general public is the result of more than 110 years of experience serving our customers. Fermetures GROOM is recognized as one of France's leading manufacturers of compartmentalization products such as door closers, as well as locking, access control, and smoke extraction solutions (DENFC).

1907

LIOB company launches into hinge production.

1950

GROOM created the ‘The Classic’ door closer, and the GROOM brand became a household name in France.

1991

GROOM opens a new factory in Fougères (35) Ille-et-Vilaine.

1999

Acquisition by Dorma. GROOM brand retained.

2005

GROOM obtains ISO 9001 certification

2007

GROOM expands its range of smoke extraction frames and celebrates its 100th anniversary!

2019

Launch of the new GROOM 3400 and GROOM 3500 door closers

2022

GROOM obtains ISO 45001 certification

2025
